Petition Chemical Dispersants NOW!
STOP Water Fluoridation

NALCO "creator of COREXIT" / And Your Water Authority

On July 31st 2010 I received a letter from the Storey County Public Works(storey county water authority) in the mail:
Here is a link to the scan of the letter on Facebook

The letter stated that on July 9-10th the water authority here in Storey County Nevada, did not test the water and was charged with a Violation MCL 27 - PWS I.D. #NV0000240.
After the first paragraph is the following phrase:
"This is not an Emergency. You did not and do not need to boil water or use an alternative source of water at this time."

RED FLAG 1 - How can I protect myself from tainted water if you tell me after I consumed it?

Slightly farther down the first page it states which contaminate was NOT monitored.
RED FLAG 2 *Chlorine
In the same data table it also says: Monitoring Period - August-09
I recieved this on July 31st 2010, and it is not August 9th yet, and this is 2010 not 2009, so how is this data relevant today???(more down the page)

A little farther down the first page, the letter reads: "The Sample is tested for coliforms and chlorine.

RED FLAG 3 *Coliforms are bacteria that are naturally present in the environment and are used as an indicator that other potentially-harmful, bacteria may be present. Chlorine is added to the water to disinfect and kill micro organisms."

On to page two...

At the top of the page the letter reads:
"Testing results from the 2nd quarter of 2010 shows that our system exceeds the standard or maximum(caveat) contaminant level for >>>Haloacetic Acids (HAA5). The running average for HAA5 from July 2009 thru June 2010 was .062 mg/L
The MCL(Maximum Contaminent Level) is .060 mg/L
(mg/L = miligrams per liter)

RED FLAG 4 the water coming to this area has been contaminated for atleast one whole year!!!

The next item in the letter reads:

What should you do?

There is nothing you need to do unless you have a severely compromised immune system, have an infant, or are elderly. >>>These people may be at increased risk and should seek advice about drinking water from thier health care providers.

RED FLAG 5 *If you have been drinking contaminated water for up to a year, it is very likely your immune system isn't doing as well as it should.

"What should you do?" Cont...

"You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions."

RED FLAG 6 *This is horrible advice!

The letter continues with, "What you should do?"
"If a situation arises where the water is no longer safe to drink, you will be notified within 24hrs.

RED FLAG 7 *This looks to be a flat-out lie, or in the least, misleading, the water authority in this very letter, had just previously announced that, they DID NOT check the system for a whole year.

RED FLAG 8 *How could any logical person trust this water authority to warn you about contaminants in your water, right after they admit contaminating your water for a year?!!!

~ THE ICING ON THE CAKE ~

NALCO....(creator of COREXIT)
At the bottom of the page 2 the letter reads:

"What is being done?

Over the past year we have been monitoring the changing levels of disinfection byproducts in the distribution system and have made treatment modifications to avoid exceeding the drinking water standard.
However, the Haloacetic Acids(HAA5) have increased to a level that exceeds the standard. Modifications to the pretreatment of the raw water have included lowering the amount of Hypo-Chloride (by 52%). Further modifications to pretreatment chemical dosing are currently being made. In addition we are workin closely with NALCO (our chemical manufacturer) and other technical experts to more fully evaluate the situation.
>>>Based on this evaluation, the most ECONOMICAL solution WILL BE IMPLEMENTED as quickly as possible."<<<

RED FLAG 9 *Over the past year this water authority has NOT monitored the system in total, by their own admission.

RED FLAG 10 *"pretreatment chemical dosing" if not monitored is even more dangerous. Additonally NALCO the creator of COEXIT is in a lot of hot water already and they should not(In My Opinion) be involved ~what so ever, in managing anyone's water.

RED FLAG 11 *"the most ECONOMICAL solution" is in not the safest way to handle water treatment. ANd they are not asking YOU, the citizens of the counties about your own resources, the most important one of all. As it states in the letter "WILL BE IMPLEMENTED".

RED FLAG 12 *HAA5 - Haloacetic Acids: When added to nature HAA5 mostly forms into a hexane ring 6-sided molecule, just like Benzene.
A lot of research+time+money has already been spent on Natural Organic Matter in Surface Water

Nalco COREXIT® oil spill dispersants
"COREXIT 9500, the only dispersant Nalco is manufacturing to help break up the oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico"
Corexit is a chemical dispersant used on oil spills. It breaks down the oil into smaller particles. It hides the oil by breaking it down and sinking it to a lower depth. This is purely for a visual fix, the oil is still there, but now mixed with chemicals.
